Looking for musical similarities in bands.?

Question

I am looking for nineties bands but I don't know how to categorize them. I'd like something that sounds like Sixpence None The Richer, and I'd like some bands that are pretty popular, or at least were, and bands with singles. I don't know what exactly I'm looking for but I'm sure that some of the answers to this will pop up songs I used to listen to that I've forgotten about. Just don't give me anything unrelated to the genre, don't tell me the music I picked sucked, and don't make any remarks unrelated to the question please.

Sixpence None the Richer is more of a pop rock band. I like them myself. Uhh .... you'd probably like The Cardigans, Jars of Clay, Plumb, or DC Talk. Maybe even Garbage or Hole.
