Looking for neighborhood security?

Question

I am looking for a pretty decent neighborhood security system. I would like it to all be wireless and have a DVR back at the main house. The neighborhood runs for about 1000 feet long, so i need cameras that can send a signal that far. I am looking for about 9 cameras, maybe more if the price isn't to high. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I have already looked at like homesecuritystore.com but did not find anything in there that seemed to work.

wow buddie what you need is alot of routers and computer gateways, or a website, this is how it works, you have a server and all of the cameras will send there information to that web server and from there your able to access it, or have computers along the path way and connected to a network from which your able to control them all and see what the camera are seeing, another way is to try and find powerfull wi-fi but i don't know if you can find that,

I think what you would need is some cameras that connect to a normal router instead of its own one, then set up several repeaters around the neighbourhood. Or, you could find some that create a mesh network. Search wikipedia for more info.

Its the same thing xbox 360's use to connect to each other wirelessly. It creates a network where devices can connect to the network through each other if it cant access the main router.
