i am from Mumbai. i would like to know which website can provide me an exact list of old age homes in Shimla, as i am looking forward to work at them. also i need to know how & where in shimla can i contact an old age home to look for ajob there

    SHIMLA, 10th September, 2007:Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister said that State Government would consider replication of old age homes with disabled hostels model all over the State and would urge private bus operators to share the social welfare responsibility towards disabled, freedom fighters and other eligible sections of the society. He said that the State Government would be providing free education to disabled with scholarship besides additional scholarships for disabled hostlers. He was addressing the 2nd meeting of the Disabled Welfare Board here today.

    Chief Minister said that the State had 25, 416 eligible disabled who had been provided social welfare pension and about Rs. 6 crore were being spent over the same annually to facilitate the targetted section. He said that his Government had earmarked half of its budgetary provisions for the social welfare activities and was committed to cater to the social welfare requirements of the under privileged sections of the society.

    Virbhadra Singh said that the State Government had constructed a Disabled Home combined with Old Age Home at Dari near Dharamsala with a view to provide company of the young disabled to the aged people who could guide them in their future endeavours so that the young disabled were benefited with their experiences.

    Chief Minister that his Government would urge the private bus operators to honour the social welfare commitment of the State Government towards the identified sections of the society which included disabled, freedom fighters and other such vulnerable sections of the society. He said that orders had been issued to earmark the seats for disabled in all the buses in the State which needed to be made available to the disabled. He said that his Government would also consider simplification of loan procedure to disabled besides lowering the rate of interest to the disabled loanees.

    Virbhadra Singh said that his Government was constructing disabled hostels and old age homes all over the State to facilitate them with appropriate boarding and lodging facilities. He said that free education facilities were being provided to disabled upto the highest level alongwith scholarships ranging between Rs. 150 to Rs. 450 per month while the disabled hostlers were being provided scholarships ranging between Rs. 300 to Rs. 900. He said that free education facilities were also available to disabled in ITIs, Polytechnics and other vocational courses.

    Chief Minister said that process of filling up backlog of disabled in the Government departments was being expedited as the Sate Government had provided 3 percent reservation to disabled in the Government jobs which was being implemented in letter and spirit. He said that a Special Employment Exchange Cell had been set up in the exchanges and grievances of the disabled were being heard on second Monday of every month and all departments have been directed to redress the same by according top priority.

    Virbhadra Singh said that 2,192 identified disabled children were being provided 'Home based Education' which included 420 children being educated by NGOs. He said that best efforts were being made to ensure that no disabled was deprived of education.

    Chief Minister said that the State Government would consider relaxation in the income condition for allotment of land for house construction so that the benefits were delivered to maximum members of deserving categories. He said that his Government had decided to allot 2 biswa of land in rural area and one biswa land in urban areas to the landless and houseless families. He said that 25 metres of land was being provided to disabled for self employment ventures for temporary shed construction at five percent of market price or double of five years average which ever would be less.

    He said that all eligible families were required to apply to concerned SDMs and DCs to get their name included in the IRDP list and also to delete the names of ineligible families included in the IRDP list. He said that 12 posts of physiotherapists were being filled up, one each in every district hospital and recruitment process was being expedited.

    Virbhadra Singh said that the State Government would initiate action as per the law of land against the people who had fake disabled certificates in their possession and illegally availing the benefits. He said that no one would be allowed to misuse the welfare funds. He said that Medical Board meeting was being held every saturday where medical certificates were issued and renewed to disabled. He added that the special sports events were being organized for the disabled.

    Chief Minister said that State Government was considering setting up of a rehabilitation center for mentally challenged persons near Shimla where all required facilities would be made available to such people and efforts would be made for their rehabilitation. He said that the State Government had enhanced the disabled marriage grant from Rs. 8000 to Rs. 15,000. He said that State Health Department would soon organize special medical examination camps to identify the muscular dystrophy affected children and the same was likely to be made an annual event.

    Ravi Dhingra, Chief Secretary assured the Chief Minister that policies and programmes aimed for the welfare of disabled would be implemented in letter and spirit so that no eligible disabled was left uncovered under the schemes of the State Government.

    Smt. Anuradha Thakur, Director, Social Justice and Empowerment welcomed the Chief Minister. She apprised the Board of the agenda items submitted by the Members.

    Smt. Parminder Mathur, Avay Shukla, J.P. Negi, Additional Chief Secretaries, Principal Secretaries, Secretaries, Special Secretaries, Heads of the Departments, Senior Officers and Non Official Members attended the Board meeting.
