  1. This is a classic design, and I'm glad your undertaking this project.  In my experience it's just a lot of work. Cleaning and polishing.  If you have a knowledgeable sailor to go over the rigging, looking for corrosion in the swedge fittings etc. you can insure safety.  Same thing on the "rudder post"  look hard for dry rot around the bulkheads.  I think you'll find more to do inside than out, but in the end you'll have a classic boat that's fun to sail, and turns heads!   Good Luck!

  2. You will need a knowledge of fiberglass work on a boat that old.  I restored a Laguna 18 some years ago and it took all summer just to do the fiberglass work on it and another summer to do the bright work and another summer to do the interior... so it was a 3 year project.. but the boat was a lot of fun.

  3. Having restored  numerous  boats, I can answer almost any specific question you might have. On an early 70s Rhodes 22, for instance, I've reinforced the cabinsides, replaced portlights, electrics and, rudder as well as strengthening the hatch area with airex and additional fiberglass. I also put an addition on the hatch cover so water doesn't come straight in the severely sloped aft cabin face. Anyway, If you are serious about it, I'd be happy to advise you.
