Hi,

I have a Danby DPAC 10061 filter:

and I am looking to somehow attach a filter pad (for smoke) to the intake tube opening outside the house. The unit does not support out-of-box filter attached this way.

Please look at this picture (the second one) to get an idea how this thing looks:

the problem is, there is no such thing available on the market so I am wondering what you ideas are to accomplish this task, and what kind of filter pad would be good for this task.

Thanks!

  1. Portable air conditioners don't usually work very well, but as with bigger systems they are designed to cool and recirculate the air that's already in the room, gradually bringing the temperature down.

What is more important is that they work by heat exchange and it's the hot air and moisture they produce that needs to be extracted from the room. That's what the tube is for.

There's no intake from the outside.

  2. Anything you put on there will restrict the airflow and affect the operation of the unit.

Maybe there is a reason the manufacturer does not offer such an item?
