Question:

Looking for reasonably priced hotel in/around Munich.?

I am considering a trip to Munich and Bavaria. However, I'm trying to cut down on the price of a hotel. I need to gain quick daily access to city center, but don't necessarily need to stay in the center of the city. Any suggestions, other than hostels?

  1. Hello, the booking.com works great for me (personal opinion).

You can find good offers, reviews and ratings from guests (a great tool to decide based on other people bad or good staying experience).

I'm using it when I want to travel abroad and I didn't have any problems. The hotels and the rooms were exactly as I red and saw on site.

The maps also gives you an idea where the hotels reside.

The reservation process is easy and you don't need to pay with credit card.

    Enjoy your travel.

  2. You could have a look at

    http://www.hotel.de

Rooms start at €35 a night, but check the map to make sure, they are where you want and or have connection to the subway system.

For budget hotel chain there are some Etap hotels - very, very basic, but you have your own shower, toilet and sink and if you don't need more than a place to rest, then there at least you can be fairly sure you get a clean room (since it's a chain).

For the more daring traveler you could try if someone can put you up under

    http://www.couchsurfing.com

    Enjoy your trip!

  3. This is a site where you can book hostels, but don't worry! Most of them have also single rooms and are quite nice and even centrally located.

Have look at them and see if something adapts to your wishes.

  4. check out www.hostelworld.com they have hotels on there too.  It's a great resource for all your travel needs.

  5. Check out the Hotel Jedermann at  http://www.hotel-jedermann.de/  -- I stayed here last fall, and was very happy.  Cheap is a relative term in Munich, but the Jedermann is pretty reasonable--especially if you don't mind having only a sink in your room  (toilet & shower are on the floor---actually, that's a great way to save money on any hotel/Gasthof in Germany).

The Jedermann is very clean and neat, but somewhat basic.  They do serve breakfast in the morning, and it's a pretty nice spread-- a lot of different options, and it's included in the room price.

The Jedermann is about 7-8 city blocks from the main train station (Hauptbahnhof), and it's less than a block away from a tram line.  I looked at hotels & Gasthofs further out in the burbs, and there were a little cheaper, but between the price of transportation and the time lost getting to downtown, the Jedermann was the best option.  I have no hesitation in recommending it-- the room was small, but neat, impeccably clean and comfortable, the hotel staff was excellent, and for the price, the location couldn't be beat.
