I am having a Partylite candle party with a few, probably less than 12 people and I need some new receipies for appetizers. Nothing to expensive working on a budget. We are not picky as far as food goes but i want something differant not anything plain as a platter of cheese and crackers. A couple hot dishes would be good as well as some cool dishes aswell. Thanks for you help!

  1. I used to take ramon noodles cook em and drain, then add chili beans, beef stew, frito lays, sandwich spread, jalapenos and after its all mixed up serve it on tortillas. It sounds strange but tastes good. Its a side dish, thats all. You could even throw in some chopped steak. You want to see a neat video go to youtube and type in( a koranic toast.) End.

  2. Spinach Balls, many recipes online.  After they are cooked put small pretzel sticks in to act as tooth pics.  Also try this cool recipe:

    2 boxes orange jello

2 boxes vanilla pudding (not instant)

8oz cartoon cool whip or generic version

2 small cans of mandarine oranges (drained and patted dry).  Reserve juice from oranges.

Combine jello, pudding and 5 1/4 cups water, include the mandarine juice in this amout.  Cook over med. heat, stirring constantly for around 20min and should get slightly thickened.  Cool in fridge.  Add cool whip and oranges.  Let set up for a few hours.

  3. "porcupine"

take your meat and cheese place on toothpicks and stick into a head of cabbage with the bottom sliced off to keep stable. place on a tray with crackers.

    "mini pizzas"

get refrigerator biscuit dough, flatten them out and top them like you would any pizza. bake and enjoy

    "cocktail dogs"

cut up hot dogs into bite size pieces, place in crock pot with BBQ sauce. you can add onions if you like.

    "spice cheese dip"

get a family size can of premade cheese sauce or get some Velveeta and make your own sauce add a can of hot dog chili sauce. serve with crackers or chips.

    "party punch"

    1  2Lt. 7-up or sprite

    1 gallon fruit punch

    1 container any flavor sherbet

mix 7-up and fruit punch in a punch bowl add scoops of sherbet. make lots this disappear quickly. you might want to make a double or even a triple batch depending on the size of the crowd.

  4. Deviled eggs are always a hit no matter where I take them

Spinach dip in a bread bowl with crackers

You can slice up some pinwheels--get flavored tortilla or wraps, spread with cream cheese, load with veggies and sliced turkey or chicken, roll up and slice diagonally.

Sweet and sour meatballs, put your meatballs in a crock--either homemade or buy a bag of frozen, add in grape jelly and a jar of chili sauce and a bit of lemon juice (taste much better than it sounds))  Mix well, heat through.

  5. caprese salad

    stuffed mushrooms

pita wedges and veggie sticks  with hummus dip

  6. Go to the store, buy frozen appetizers. heat. eat.  They're relatively cheap to buy in bulk. Try motzerella bites, chicken wings, or you can make the appetizers. Cucumber sanwiches always go over well. All you need are: cream chz, dry italian dressing mix, cucumber, and jewish rye bread. (mix softened 8 oz crm chz and half of dry seasoning mix) spread on bread  and add cucumber, you can also top with dill if preferred.  spinach dip is easy, chips and dip are store bought. Queso is always a good party food.

  7. Take some melba toast rounds ( not rectangle) and top them with a mixture of  1/2 mayo and shredded parmesan or asiago cheese with either a little cayenne pepper if you like heat or else just sprinkle with paprika on top. Broil till bubbly.( about 3 mins but watch while in oven- top with  a tiny parsley leaf and serve.

  8. My cousin showed me a very easy appetizer. Fairly quick and very tasty.

Crescent rolls filled with cream cheese and mushrooms.

Just use the canned rolls (Pillsbury, etc...) place a 1 teaspoon of cream cheese (or to taste) in middle of roll and place one or two slices of mushroom into the middle. (she used jarred mushrooms). If you don't like mushrooms get creative... you could use deli meat, fruit, jam...

Then just roll and bake the rolls as directed on package.

For a An example of a cheap hot dish would  be Chili. I don't have a recipe for that but it seems to be a hit for most people.

  9. Here are a few I've done that are inexpensive...

    Bacon wraps:

    *Bacon *water chesnuts *toothpics

Take bacon and cut them in half. Wrap around water chesnuts and stick a tooth pick in them. Bake on baking sheet (or if you have one with holes in it so the grease drips through to baking sheet below) Bake till bacon is done. You can serve with a sause mix of soy and teryaki sauce.

    Easy dip:

Need a small crock pot for best results.

*1pkg cream cheese *1c shredded cheddar cheese *1 can homel chili (I like the hot no beans one)

Mix all together in crock pot and put on low. Once hot you can serve it with chips. Just leave it in the warm crock pot for your guests to spoon onto their plates.

    Bruchetta:

*loaf french or italian bread *2-3 tomatoes *olive oil *1/2 c shredded cheese *1/4 italian bread crumbs *italian seasoning

On baking pan pour a bit of olive oil. Slice tomatoes thin. Place on olive oil coating both sides of tomato with oil. Add some italian seasoning (garlic if you have it too). Sprinkle with bread crumbs and place some cheese on top of each tomato. Bake at about 200 for 10 mins till tomatos are hot. Serve on bread cut 1/4 inch pieces. It's a hit at all my parties! Especially if you have wine!
