Question:

Looking for solo vacation ideas. Any suggestions?

I'm in my early 30s and want to take a two-week vacation, alone. I want it to be very laid back. With lots of time to relax and reflect on my life. I'd also like to meet new people, so I want to go somewhere that people are friendly and open to meeting new people.

Ideally it would be nice to go somewhere that people have a different view of life that I can learn from. Here in the northeastern U.S., people are generally rude, rushed, and cynical and I want to get away from that. It's been stressing me out enough for the past three years.

I've done vacations in the past where I did a lot of planning and filled my days with activities. But I'm looking for the opposite of that now. I want a vacation where the basics are all planned out for me, and I just relax and do whatever I feel like with my time.

Any suggestions? I'm open to any ideas, including places in the U.S. or other countries.

I'm thinking about a cruise. Do cruises generally fall along those lines? My only concern with that is I'll encounter these same unfriendly, cynical people on vacation.

  2. Puerto Rico.  The women are beautiful and you won't need a passport to go.  Fun, Sun and Beautiful women in Bikinis sounds like a perfect vacation.

  4. Anytime I can throw my dogs and a fishing pole in the car, my mood changes immediately.  The stress melts away.  Sometimes I go to the NC mountains and park by a river, hiking, fishing and rock collecting.  Another time I may choose to go to the park at the ocean and really lay back, meeting some fine people of all ages and from all walks of life.  And a couple of times a year I meet family members for a 5 day week end at a music festival on the suwanee river.  Life can't possibly get any better.  Join us!!
