If the weather is nice, I recommend Carbone on 38th between Eighth and Ninth.  There is seating in a lovely outdoor garden.  If the garden is closed, it gets crowded inside.  The food's very good - I love the calamari, the baked pasta and the individual pizzas.  Warning - the restroom is downstairs - the only way to get there is this skinny wrought iron winding staircase - murder in high heels.
