Looking for someones information?

Ok I bought a huge luggage case (or maybe a huge chest) from the thrift store today. It has a name and address in it and had newspapers in it dated from the 1940's. I want to find out more about the previous owner..the name on the case...how would I go about doing this without paying (it's not crucial that I do, Im just interested). Ive tried googling.

If you give the name of the person there are people with paid subscriptions to some sites that will help you out for nothing. They are a very nice crowd of people that do this from their hearts.

She was born in Wisconsin.  Her mother was from Germany, her father from North Dakota [or Indiana].

Her husband was Andrew J. Dempsey.  He was 28 years older than she was (born 1862 in Ohio, he had a first wife, Ida, before he & Elizabeth married).  They had a daughter named Betty B., born in 1916.  He died in 1937 (Feb 12) at the age of 75.

update:

Her maiden name was Elizabeth Probst.  She & Andrew married in Clay County, Indiana, December 29, 1913.

Her parents were John Probst & Mary Karrack.  She had sisters Idelle & Helen and a brother, George.  The family lived in Terre Haute in 1900 & 1910.

Try looking through this site, its free.  You may be able to find a marriage record as Dempsey may be her married name.   All I  have found is her death record (July 1975) but I'll keep looking.
