  1. Find a creek close by, and give him a fishing pole!

  2. Its fun to be at the Y-M-C-A, its fun to be at the Y-M-C-A.

Sorry couldn't help my self. But as you can see YMCA is awesome. They are so cheap, and they have every activity he could ever want to join in on. Plus he will be in a safe environment, where he can makes friends and they even have adult classes so you won't be board.

  3. look at programs thru the local university &recreation departments.  hire a nanny, send him to visit family, work half days part of the week, etc.

  4. I'm in the same boat with my daughter who just 12.

I plan to set a schedule for her. Like reading, doing school summer package, chores in the house; clean the bathroom and her room, doing computer games like study island, math blaster, I also will ask her to ride her bike, shoot hoops, play kick ball with the kids on the street.

You can check out the YMCA sometimes they have camp with scholarships for a week or two. If you are church goer there are many churches that offer vacation bible school. A friend of mine sends her child to at least 3 a summer, it a cheep and safe to have her child meet other kids.

Try to have family walks, bike rides, play ball together when you are home. Make family time doings that are physical rather watching movies at night.

Try to set up play dates with his friends and their families, You have a friend over when your home and arrange for him to go to a friends house for a few hours while you work.

I hope you get a lot of good ideas and good luck. Enjoy your summer.
