Meaning something like sophistication, or perhaps "pull" in the political sense. I'm only interested because I'm thinking about how some people mispronounce "cache" to sound like that word I'm thinking of, as in, "they found a cache of weapons," but they'll pronounce it as a two-syllable word. Sorry, I've always been a lousy speller!

  3. Cachet

    ca·chet   Pronunciation Key [ka-shey, kash-ey;]

    –noun, plural ca·chets

    1. an official seal, as on a letter or document.

    2. a distinguishing mark or feature; stamp: Courtesy is the cachet of good breeding.

    3. a sign or expression of approval, esp. from a person who has a great deal of prestige.

    4. superior status; prestige: The job has a certain cachet.

    5. Pharmacology. a hollow wafer for enclosing an ill-tasting medicine.

    6. Philately. a firm name, slogan, or design stamped or printed on an envelope or folded letter.

  4. There are two different words:

One is spelled CACHE and pronounced CASH.  This is a hiding place.

The other is spelled CACHET and pronounced CA-SHAY.  This is a seal of approval or a sign on prestige.

People often mispronounce words from foreign languages and it's astute of you to realize the difference between these two.
