Looking for split rim for boat trailer?

I have a 12 foot boat trailer that I bought to haul my aluminum boat. The trailer is home made. I need a spare tire and rim for the trailer, but I have a problem. The rims on the trailer are split rim style, not split ring. No places around me have a rim like this and most have never seen this style before. Driving out to the country to find a rim like this is out of the question. The rim is held on by the nut and cotter key. It would be cheaper and easier to just by a different trailer than refabricate this trailer. How can I get a rim for this trailer?

just get a better trailer or another axle

It sounds to me as though you have wheels for a piece of farm equipment, as they have wheels like that. I suggest that you get a new axle as the small wheels that you have will wear out quickly and do not have water-proof hubs. You will always be messing around with the wheels and bearings.

You're saying that this trailer rim has no lug nuts, it's held on strictly by the bearing retainer to the axle? Sounds like a REAL home-made job, or the cheap light-grade type wheel/axle combo. You should check online ( obviously you can do that ) for different industrial wheel applications, you might find the same wheel/axle type thru WWGrainger or Great Northern or a similar supplier of industrial parts. A better choice of course would be to get a "real" trailer, not this fabricated piece that will cause you grief...look at it this way, if you can't find a way to get parts NOW, how about if you break down on the road? I'd ditch trying to get by cheap and use this trailer ( unless you absolutely financially have no choice ), and start looking for a more easily serviced type. Other places that carry wheels are Harbor Freight and Tractor Supply Corporation ( I think both have online shopping. ) Good luck!
