  1. For: stem cells have the potential to turn into any type of tissue, so they could be used to cure many different types of degenerative diseases such as alzheimer's, parkinson's, spinal cord injuries (paralysis), heart damage, certain kinds of cancer, and even things like baldness of deafness.

Against: Apparently God says science is a sin.

  2. Stem cells are undifferentiated cells from an embryo, rather than from an actual developed fetus.  This means that they have the potential to develop into different types of tissue in order for the embryo to become a fetus and then a human, but they have not yet done so.  Considering an undifferentiated cluster of cells to be as important (or more so) than a human is not reasonable.  Using that type of reasoning would mean that we would have to save every sperm and ovum because they also have the potential to develop into humans.  There are many people dying from illnesses that could be cured by using these stem cells to develop needed tissues.  If you haven't guessed, this is an argument for stem cell research.
