I am going to Germany next summer (late June) and I need to know some things.

What is the cheapest air fare around?

Can I book my flight now?

Please include the website that you found the tickets

How long does it take to pass through European Customs?

Please add any other useful information.

Thank you

  1. Customs in Europe is an absolute breeze.  Albeit I'm usually in the fast-track line, there really aren't "Customs" like we are used to in the US.  Instead, in many destinations, there is only the "Immigration" part of entry like in the US, where they check tickets, passports, and visas.

I can help you find the best fare if you give me more accurate dates of travel and departure city - the answer to your question depends heavily on those =]

Hope this helps, and please don't hesitate to post back!

  2. You can book now, but it's probably better to sign up for sale alerts.  Right now, cheapest published PIT-CGN is $1312 r/t.  Since summer is peak season for demand on US-Europe flights, you might expect a sale fare in the neighborhood of $1000, but be ready to book when you get an alert.  http://www.farecompare.com/fare-search/y... will help you with that.  http://www.cheapflights.com/flights-to-c... should also help you.

You will pass Customs at your final destination airport (CGN).  It's a breeze.  If you've got nothing to declare--and most people don't--go through the green side.  Otherwise, go through the red side.  It's clearly marked as you exit.
