Fast growing, big green leaves in the spring, clusters of white flowers which start falling once they bloom in summer, long brown pods in late summer, the tree goes completely bare in the fall. The bark is soft, but rough, and easily damaged. Any help, name that tree, thanks.

  3. Assuming you are in the U.S. your tree sounds very much like a Black Locust.

They have thick bark, longish strings of white flowers (usually hanging very heavily on mature trees in the late spring).  The flowers actually smell really good.  The petals fall easily with wind or rain, but they will eventually become dark brown pods (a foot or so long give or take) with a variable number of seeds inside.

The leaves are pretty large...again around a foot (give or take a couple inches).

Google or wikipedia Black Locust and I think you'll find what you are looking for.

BTW:  They are native to the Eastern half of the U.S. but you can find them in every state now as they are planted as shade/ornamental trees.
