Question:

Looking for the perfect first song for a road trip playlist!?

Heading out on a 5-day road trip down south and I'm in the process of making the ultimate road trip music mix. I'm in need of the PERFECT first song... something that is a bit unpredictable, but you can totally rock out to. Leaning more towards the classic rock genre, something you can turn up loud and sing to. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

  1. "Black Betty" by Ram Jam is a good driving song.  Also, almost anything by AC/DC is great for that.

  2. I'd probably say "El Salvador" by Athlete. You might have never heard of them but they're good.

Anyway, I'm not really a music whiz kid so I probably don't know...

  3. how about lost highway by jon bon jovi

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4C-p2C10...

or anything by 30 seconds to mars

  4. Life Is a Highway by Rascal Flatts (or the original artist.) That's like the song that they use on every road trip scene in every movie/tv show.

    or

Get Out of This Town - Carrie Underwood

Lookin for a Good Time - Lady Antebellum

Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas (I love listening to this when I drive)

and I agree with Highway to h**l, whoever said that...

  5. sweet talk by dear and the headlights.

  6. My road music is usually one of two things either Offspring or the Grease soundtrack.

Okay I'll be honest it's usually the Grease soundtrack

  7. Road music is best when it is not "nuanced".  I enjoy straight ahead rock and roll or country music.  Music with good strong bass and rhythm  lines is best.

How about "Ride My SeeSaw" by the Moody Blues?

When I've been driving long distances I put in my old Moody Blues (core 7), or find a good strong country music signal on the radio.

Classical music, jazz, "new age" don't work very well when on the road.

Unless you are a real audiophile with a giga boom subwoofer in your back seat, the road noise wipes out nuanced musical sounds.

Stick to rock and roll and country.

  8. Highway to h**l.
