Question:

Looking for tips on slalom skiing- deep water starts?

I got pretty good at slalom water skiing last summer and am looking to go to the next level- we upgraded our boat (from a Bayliner 175 with 135 hp to a Maxum 2200 with 260 hp), bought a nice dual binding slalom ski and are ready to hit the water! The problem is, I've never been good at deep water starts. I feel like I'm being dragged under water for 20 seconds, can't quite lean back enough and fall. I can get up and drop no problem. I thought it was that the boat was underpowered, but think its more in my technique now that we have a bigger, faster boat. Any tips would be awesome!

  1. i would try maybe buying a special salom rope to hold ur ski on get up or just when ur sitting in the water u need to remember two things (1)DONT LET GO! (2) be relaxed and try to find a comfortable possision to sit in to wait for ur driver to get ready.

  2. Goood luck on mission.

  3. well you need to lean forward and as so as you get half up start to cut, that will bring you up faster (less time being dragged) try doing some dock starts with one ski. good luck please put me as best anwser
