I book most of my travel online, although some friends have found deals  -  esp. last minute travel  -   which would be hard to beat by doing it yourself.

When I was living in Ireland,I always used a travel agent in Killarney called South West travel on High street.I found that they were always the cheapest for tickets to Australia return,and always let me know if their were specials to Australia that I might like to take.A couple of times I went in there to buy holiday packages for Paris and Spain and they said that they weren't going to take my money as it would be way cheaper to buy the airfares and accommodation on the Internet and gave me the website that would have cheap deals.My friends have also used them to come to Australia.I have a friend coming next week and she got her return ticket for under 879 plus taxes.I hope I was of some help.
