  1. Well, if you want to learn, you might as well hear all sides:

  2. Merry Meet Tyr,

If you are trying to join any Yahoo e-group that is sound in any form, you will find that they require some important information on your profile. Such as an age to protect them against issues with under aged members, gender is usually asked to aid in discussions, and finally a city and state that way they can see if you are close to anyone on their group. Also another reason for the profile information is it reduces the chances of the e-address being a bot or something.

If you can’t get into a good yahoo e-group, there are other legitimate sources out there today. One being Witchvox at http://www.witchvox.com/, they have many links for mentors or even a Coven, Circle or Grove near you. If there are none near you, you could look into getting online training through the Sacred Mists at http://www.workingwitches.com/wicca/cour... or OZ Wicca at http://www.ozwicca.com/ , both are pretty decent for learning the Craft on the Web.

Also if you can, get your hands on Wicca for Beginners by Thea Sabin and/or The Circle Within by Dianne Sylvan. Both of these books are very good reading and both will give you some deeper insight to the Craft and how it relates to you.

If you do seek a deeper understanding beyond these mediums I suggest that you seek out a good mentor, preferably someone locally to you. But no matter close or far away, make sure they are good and can really help you.

I hope that this information helps you out.

  3. I have found over the years that BOS-Pagan is one of the better groups.

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BoS-Pagan/

    There is also

    Beginning Wicca

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BeginningW...

    Granny Moons Morning Feast

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GrannyMoon...

    (This is linked to http://goddessschool.com)

I find the yahoo groups to be a great place to chat to like-minded individuals without the fear of harassment and intolerance.

Outside of Yahoo Groups, I can recommend the Magicka School.

  4. Honestly, I don't think mailing lists are the way to go.

    I'd start here:

    http://wicca.timerift.net especially the 101 section.

Then visit http://www.witchvox.com/xtrads.html and find a decent trad. (You'll need info from the first site to wade through the BS.)

Once you find a good trad, ask them about mailing lists or other networking types available.

  5. Merry Meet,

I would suggest the Sacred Circle of Wiccan Fellowship. Search for them under yahoo eGroups. On the eGroup are links as well as free information on various practices and such. I hope this helps.
