I am sorry for those that think this is a joke! It's not!

in Tulsa we have a group (CASA) that advocates for children's rights in everything from child abuse to abandonment and sexual assault.

there is a another group that helps battered woman, obtain proper medical attention and help with filing protective orders and other legal issues.

so is there nothing for the GLBT community to make sh er that we get fair and proper treatment under the law?

  1. Yes, there's LAMBDA LEGAL. It's a legal center that takes on LGBT issues by providing attorneys and legal advice.

They have a long history of taking high profile cases court that deal with discrimination and other issues. Check out their site:

  2. generally speaking the LBGT community in the states is still pretty taboo and looked down on in terms of legal protection, recognition, etc.

...this is despite the fact that US is actually one of the safest places for people of LBGT identification in the world. Actually Europe's better than us when it comes to that, but they're having their own issues at the moment.

Go search around online, in newspapers, etc. I was living in Riverside, CA for a while and at the UC campus there was a department there devoted to raising awareness of the plight of LBGT students (and the population around Riverside and Southern California in general).

So just search around for an organization that can help you.
