Question:

Looking into buying a hybrid car, which should I look at?

Hello there and thanks for reading my question. I have a 2001 Saturn which I love, but I am thinking of switching to a hybrid. I have heard that the 2009 Toyota Prius will supposedly get up to 80 MPG, or at least that's what the web sites are saying.

What other models should I look at? Does Honda have anything that can stack up against the Prius?

A small concern, I LOVE MY SUNROOF, but I know Toyota will not install them as they will increase drag and lower fuel economy. Does anybody know if they will install this on future models? Does Honda have a hybrid with a moonroof?

Thanks!

  1. You will end up paying up to $2,000 More on a Prius' Sticker Price due to the desire to have one. This is why I would recommend a Honda Civic Hybrid. It is much more stylish, faster, and you will only have to sacrifice 8MPG over the Prius.

Or, your other option is to check out the VW Jetta TDI. This is the Diesel version of the Jetta. It gets around 50MPG Diesel, and Diesels last well over 150,000 Miles. The thing about diesels is that the exterior and body usually die before the engine. Also, they come with a sunroof and leather interior.

This one is a bargain compared to the others. It would be worth it to get it shipped. They are nearly impossible to find.

    Good Luck

  2. The current Prius is rated at 46 mpg. The 2009 will be a plug in hybrid run on batteries.  It is supposed to get up to 80 mpg.

Neither current hybrid (Civic or Prius) can be bought with a factory installed sunroof.

  3. Here is a whole list

  4. I'd also highly recommend a Diesel.

  5. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the hybrid before buying one, for example here: http://autoinsurance.bebto.com

Some of hybrids are expensive to insure.

  6. Prius are really great the only thing it lacks on is style i would go with honda cause of the style and it looks like a normal car and it has about the same milage instead of looking weird on a weird looking car u can look cool
