When I look at the sky during a sunny day, I see little particles that are rainbow (?) colored that are "swimming" around. What causes this?

  1. when you stare at the sun the dirrect light is too strong for your eye to be able to handle so it burns an image into the back of your retina.  Light is made up of the entire color spectrum so naturally once the image is burned you see the different colors wherever you look, untill the eye repairs itself and the image fades.
