Looking on moving from NJ to New Hampshire. Are people from NJ/NY accepted by the long-time residents?

  1. Ones from NY are those from NJ aren't.


  2. If you move to a small town out in the country, you will always be a newcomer; if you move to a suburb or city, no one will even notice that you're new...it's pretty much the same as anywhere in the country.

    Acceptance will have more to do with your personality...again, pretty much like anywhere in the country.  Don't assume that everyone is a crusty old Yankee (there really aren't many of them left up here anyway), and just expect folks to be as interesting and varied as they are where you're from (although hunting is a bigger deal here than most places I've lived)

    A lot of folks do say "ideer" instead of "idea" and stuff like that...you'll have to get used to that.

    Now, if you're a NY Yankees fan, that changes everything (this is Red Sox country): you will get a lot of grief if you are a vocal Yankees fan...again, pretty much like anywhere else in the country ;-)
