  1. As far as I know you can.....but I'm not 100 % sure.....only about 80 % sure, I'd wait until you get some more answers, sorry......that I couldn't be more help then that !!!!!!!!

  2. DO NOT BUY A MINI DVD BASED CAMCORDER.

They compress their video a LOT. If you think you will be editing in your computer get a hard drive or flash memory based - or if you want best video quality, get miniDV tape.

DO NOT BUY A MINI DVD BASED CAMCORDER.

Compressed video = lost information = reduced video quality.

DVD based camcorders compress video the most. Next are certain flash memory camcorders, then hard drive based camcorder. MiniDV tape storing in DV of HDV format compress the least.

DO NOT BUY A MINI DVD BASED CAMCORDER.

  3. I don't recommend DVD media for a camcorder.  The wave of the future is SSD Flash Memory.   Look at http://www.camcorderinfo.com/ for more information.

  4. if you use the RW version of miniDVDs, you can go to the menu and after a lot of button pushes eventually delete the previously recorded files. It would not be worth the effort to try and do while in the field shooting.  If you are such a profectionist, you should be using tape, miniDV, where you can even edit in camera.
