  1. I got my last car on craigslist.  I spent 5,000 on a newer car but they have older ones selling for alot cheaper if you look around.

  2. I guess you should also check insurance quotes for the car before buying one, for example here: http://autoinsurance.bebto.com

Such very cheap used cars usually have high insurance rates.

  3. It doesn't matter where you buy your car from, just make sure its a japanese make. statistics actually show they break down less.

  4. if u want something you like, im sure u do, get more money. im in the same thing, no money, so im buying a motorcycle. check craigslist.org

    autotrader.com

    cars.com

    and motors.ebay.com

if u look hards enough u can find something on one of those

  5. you need to set your sights a bit higher.

    for $4,000

    look for

98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

these are all reliable and will last longer than other cars in this price range.

  6. BUY A JAPENESE CAR THEY RUN BETTER THAN DOMESTIC c**p!

your best bet would be a used car lot but i doubt tey would have cars that cheap.Perhaps save up some more if you can but if you must buy privatly make sure you run carfax and have it check by a certified mechanic.

  7. u could buy a scooter or motorcycle but here's a link http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Powerspor...

  8. Ed Jorgeson auto sales. East side of town

  9. I would save up a little more.  It's such a risk buying any used car but the risk gets greater the less you have to spend.  I realize not everyone can afford a new car so that's not what I'm saying.  I just hate for you to fork over that much money on something that might be worthless in no time.

  10. I live in the same area.  All I can say is look around but I'd go with a Honda since they have the highest resale values.  I've seen these cars go on for years.  Although my 97 Chevy Malibu has been nothing but reliable.  KIA has 100,000 mile powertrain warranties so that might be something to consider.

Look to make sure the wheels are straight up and down, if they lean or "toe" out or in, that's an expensive repair to correct.  Make sure no blue or black smoke comes out when starting the car.  Check the tires for even wear.  Make sure the car had regular maintenence-- oil changes, filter replacements, stuff like that. Take the car for a test drive,  remember, any noise will cost you.

Check under the car.  A few black drops of oil is okay.  But stay away from it if there's puddles.  Any other fluids like red, orange, or green is a bad sign.  This means there's a transmission fluid, or coolant leak and these are expensive to take care of.
