I might be going to Italy and or France next year and im looking for a digital camera to buy. i seen A LOT of good cameras but i need your opinion, the ones i seen that i liked the best so far are cannons, also.. im looking for cameras that are between 8-9 MP, preferably pink but if not then its okay.

also im looking for a camera with good battery life and a big screen on the back side. the camera i have now, SUCKS its a sony cybershot and i swear, after about 6 pictures, my BRAND NEW batteries die... its SO annoying, so i need a camera where i can turn it off and on numerous times during a day and not worry about changing the batteries 10 times. and i need a big screen so im able to see the picture, the screen on the back of my camera now its like half an inch... so yes, if you have any suggestions on cameras or if you have a cannon tell me what you like and dont like about it.

THANK YOU!!

  1. I bought a Kodak M1033 from Wal-Mart for about $200.  It has a big 3" screen on the back, uses a common SD card (not like that rare sony memory stick that fits nothing else)

I took videos and pictures all day before the battery went dead, it can be charged by regular plug or from it's USB cable plugged into a computer.  (Use your laptop to charge up your camera)

I love the panoramic feature.  You take a picture, the camera takes a sliver from the right side of that picture and displays on the left side of your screen to help you line up the second shot, repeat for the third and the camera automatically "stitches" the three pictures together into one awesome very wide picture.

    Bright colors, clear photos.

I'd recommend you get at least 2G SD memory card for it though, (about 15 to 20 bucks)

  2. Canon G9!

  3. The Canons are excellent.  One thing to consider though: if you are in Italy and France, will you be able to recharge the batteries?  You'll need to get an adapter, or consider a camera that takes standard AA batteries.  But if that is not an issue, get something in the Canon Powershot line -- whatever your budget can handle.

    Good luck, and have fun.

  4. Canon makes great cameras in the price range you mentioned. PowerShot is just a series name, used mainly for Canon marketing their point-and-shoot digicams.

The camera that I would recommend to you is the Canon PowerShot A590IS or the A720IS. Both are very similar, but the A590IS is newer and it seems like the A720IS is harder to find in stores. Advantages of these cameras include:

    1) uses AA batteries (regular alkaline or rechargeable NiMH)

    2) compact and lightweight, can fit in a jacket pocket

    3) various manual modes (full manual, aperture, shutter priority)

    4) image stabilizer for minimizing blurriness in pictures

    5) excellent color rendition and image quality

    6) sharp lens

    7) quick and accurate autofocus

    8) long battery life (approx 450 pics on a 2500 mAh battery)

    9) intuitive user interface and menu

    10) quick startup and shooting
