i just bought a humminbird piranhaMAX 215 and i am waiting to try it out at mammoth lakes, ca. i saw the simulator and the bottom (floor) is quite clear (this is my first fishfinder). everything is very clear.

Unless you want a side imaging sonar i'd go with a Lowrance over a Hummingbird. The side imaging sonars from Hummingbird start at about 999.99, but have the clearest bottom structure view of anything on the market.
