  1. Other answers spell out the problem of series.

    As regards recommendations, depends what size you want and how much you want to spend. I have found Asda's Durabrand/ONN 80gb and 160gb excellent quality and great value - watch out for reductions, recently had £10 off 80gb, so sold at £70. 160gb is currently £100.


  2. No they dont all record series. I have a Humax PVR 9200T (not to be confused with the new 9200TB version!) and it does not record series. It does have the option of once,daily, weekly, weekday and weekend recording. However if a programme changes time it will just record what it was set to. The series ones actually record the programme so if it changes time it will change time accordingly. There are very few out there that offer the series link.
