What equipment will I need?

I plan on renting it, because it is my first time.

Is there anything they don't include that I should have.

Any tips for when I'm actually there. Thank You.

Just in case anybody has ever been and wanted to tell me, I'm going to Wisp in MD.

Thank You.

  1. When you rent a board you get the board and bindings and they will check if you need boots, which you will.  I'd also recommend renting goggles, they'll seem weird at first but will make things much much easier than not having them.  You could always wear sunglasses, but goggles are nice because they create an air pocket and don't fog up.

Wear good waterproof clothing (you'll spend some time on your butt / knees) and make sure you base layer (next to your skin) is some kind of wicking fabric that's not cotton so that it keeps you warm even if it's damp.  Tuck your shirts into your pants as much as you can so that snow doesn't get in there!

Take a lesson.  They're not too long and the instructors will show you everything you need to know broken down into key components.  It's totally worth it to take some time to do that so you don't learn bad habits and so you can have a good time when you're on the slopes.

  2. yeah thats a good idea ive been snowboarding since i was 4 and i got my own board at the age of 11. im now 13. when you go to the when you get to the front window of the ski place they will ask you if you need rentals. if you havent been to a ski resort place then i strongly recommend going on the greens, but you might want to take training classes while you are there to.

  3. I've been boarding for ten years now, its great and alot of fun. Basically when you rent you're going to get the board, bindings, and boots. You'll just need the snow clothes, and i'd highly suggest getting a pair of googles, at very least protect your eyes with sun glasses. Other than that it tends to make it easier to take lessons the first few times, or go with someone that knows what they're doing, and is GOOD at EXPlAINING what to do. Have fun!
