Looking to go on a vacation with my husband, wanted to see what people thought. Cancun or Hawaii??

Hawaii or Cancun?? Which would be a better vacation?

Of course, it depends on what you are looking for.  I haven't been to either, but I'd say Cancun if you are wanting to travel a little outside the area to see some of the sites.  Both are very touristy and very relaxing.  However, there may be more to do in Hawaii as far as touristy attractions.  You might be less likely to get screwed over in Hawaii too, as Cancun isn't entirely American.  Check out tripadvisor.com or wikitravel.org for great suggestions, tips, and things to be aware of!

If you have never been to Hawaii. YOU MUST GO. Hawaii is the most romantic place on EARTH. If you are with the right person. Go to Oahu for your first trip( you WILL go back) do ALL the touristy things, lots of fun. See the International Market place in the Evening, ( all lit up)Do the Cultural center, very nice, swim at Hanama Bay ( be there VERY early in the morning around 7am, and snorkel in the shallow water. wonderful. go visit the Dole Pineapple farm and sample their Pineapple ice cream, yummy. drive up to the north shore and watch the surfers, amazing, be careful though and obey the rules , the water can be Very dangerous.  Stay  at Waikiki Beach, there are plenty of reasonable hotels, ask for a STANDARD room, as they are generally cheaper,and you will only be sleeping in the room so a "view" is not worth a couple of hundred dollars in my opinion. rent a little cheap JEEP when you get there from Budget or National car rentals they are usually cheaper, then you can drive around the Island exploring. Go into Honolulu and visit the Palace , the history of the Islands is worth knowing.. If you want shopping there is plenty of it right in Waikiki.  I bet you'll love it.... been there, done that, 9 times.

Cancun is great for a day or two. Hawaii is heaven! I could stay there forever and do a lot of things. Also, the beaches are a lot attractive than what Cancun has to offer.
