Looking to join a paranormal / ghost-hunting group?

Question

I live in the north wales area, and am looking to join a ghost-hunting group, as i`ve always been interested in the paranormal. Does anyone know of any good groups out these, or how i go about joining one?

I would tend to agree with several of the other answers here. However, let me add that TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) is an international group of several thousand paranormal investigators, and they have an excellent reputation for being forthright and honest in their very public investigating, often debunking the work of others without naming names. I've included their web site in my sources. When they went to Hellfire Caves, they had a high number of very discomforting experiences without losing their professionalism.

However, it doesn't look as though any groups are specific to Wales within the TAPS family. Short of joining another group at a distance in order to obtain training and backup, another option is to simply start your own group, and to adhere to the requirements and standards of the TAPS Family Requirements (from their web site, link is on the left-hand side at the bottom of the list), and you may eventually qualify your group for membership, if you're still interested at that time.

In starting my own group a few years back, I was thoroughly shocked by the sheer number of people who are interested in helping, and the investigating requires at least two people in order to ensure the integrity of the investigation. There is also equipment you'll need, starting with a flashlight and a pencil and notepad. Remember that the best investigators don't charge in order to help people, and you're well on your way!

The secret is to keep that British "stiff upper lip" when dealing with the ghosts, as sometimes things can get a bit on the dicey side. Fear can cause people to run, but so long as you're treating the spirits with a modicum of respect, you should never have any issues with regard to danger.

Finally, if you can't find any groups in your area, I do know of a great little team in Cardiff (no, they don't call themselves Torchwood), though that's not particularly close by the sound of it. Search the surrounding areas, and you may even ask around your town to see if there's any group trying to form.

If you check the TAPS website...not the sci fi one but their personal group site, they have listed a few international groups.  I believe that there is one in your area.
