Looking to move banks... not happy with westpac.. anyone reccommend best bank in Oz and why?

A friend was recently raving about HSBC. They said there are no fees because there are not many branches.  It's mostly accessable online . I was thinking of looking into it myself.

I would not recommend any of the major banks, but I would recommend a credit union. I'm moved from a bank to a credit union five years ago and have been so happy - low fees, great service. If you have to visit a branch often then it may not work for you unless you have a local credit union branch, but if you bank online or by phone it is fantastic. You can also use Australia Post branches for deposits etc

I to hate westpac and took my money else where, some of the smaller banks are ok, St George were fairly helpful in the branches and on the phone.
