Question:

Looking to paint over tile in my bathroom?

My bathroom in my apartment is reeeeally old and reeeeally small. The wall is tiled, but only halfway up. It has also been painted over with a poor quality, gloopy, white paint. I would like to paint it a shade of grayish brown or blue, but I'm not sure what the process should be. Should I paint just the tiles? Or the entire wall one color? A little confused and new at interior painting. Let me know what you guys think!

  1. I would advice not painting at all! I have refinished my tub and walls 3 times over the past years and it always ends up chipping and peeling. its a waste of money and it looks horrible when it starts to peel. I had a white tub in my apartment (well what i thought was white) then after just 2 months the whole bottom peeled away to reveil this awful blue colored tub! it was painted over yet again and the same thing happened. But this time it peeled and it ended up clogging the drain what a pain it was! So even if you go with a different color paint the old color will eevntually show through especially with tiles because of the constant cleaning. I finally got a permanet solution and got one of those liners from Re Bath. It was a little pricy but it saved me so much hassel no more painting and no more ugly blue tub and tiles!! good luck!
