Looking to purchase a used boat....Which engine is better OMC or Mercrusier? Are OMC parts hard to find?

It does not really matter.....We were just told to stay away from engines that say OMC or OMC Cobra. We were told parts were to hard to find. So we were just trying to see what everyone else was saying about OMC Engines.

I would go with Mercruiser...I think OMC parts would be harder to find...Mercruisers are basically Mercurys, and you wouldn't have a problem finding a Mercury dealer...I don't really know how reliable OMC's are...

I have owned two mercruisers and never had a problem with either one. I have also heard the same thing about OMC but cannot substantiate the rumors either way.
