I just want to have some kinda of a clue when i go into the golf shop of what i should be looking for so that i can get a stiffer shaft for my driver with out losing trajectory or distance

  1. Want some good advice? Do you get good results from your driver? Are you getting the length and accuracy from your swing? Leave well enough alone !! If your game has gone to pot, it isn't the shaft on the driver.

  2. I also would not suggest a steel shafted driver. But, that is a personal preference. If you do decide to go graphite, I would highly recommend a YS-7 75 gram shaft by Graphite Design with a stiff flex. I have tried my share of shafts for my driver and have yet to find one more controllable. I knew shafts could make a difference, but did not know how much until I started using this one. It allows me to fade and draw easily with no twisting whatsoever. And at a very good price on ebay. Not so cheap at a pro shop. They should be happy to put it on your driver. Mine was.

  3. Firstly, I would not suggest putting a steel uniflex shaft in your driver.  No one uses steel in drivers anymore.  Graphite shafts for drivers are much more consistent than they used to be, thus that's why everyone uses them now.  The biggest thing to look for is weight and kick point in driver shafts.  If you want a lighter shaft, I would suggest 55-65 grams, and heavier either 75 or 85 grams.  If you want lower ball flight, get a mid or high kick point.  If you want a higher ball flight, look for a low kick point shaft.  Tell any club maker what you're looking for and they'll be able to find something for you.

  4. One thing every player should do when looking to get new clubs or making modifications to clubs is to be fitted.  Pro shops all around have professionals who can explain what is happening and why when it comes to your swing, and seeing your ball flight on a monitor will help them determine exactly how to fit your clubs to your swing to take strokes off your game.  It may cost a bit more than you are looking to spend, but the results will be well worth it.

  5. Go to grafalloy.com. Grafalloy makes some of the most sophisticated, high performance graphite shafts ever developed. There is a huge selection along with the specific data on each of the shafts. The Epic shaft takes you to another website and it loads rather slowly. But if you read the information on all of the shafts you can easily select a shaft to fit your swing. Any reputable pro shop has access to all of the Grafalloy product line. I've tried their shafts that employ nanotechnology and they are truly remarkable.

  6. do yourself a favor, dont ask a bunch of amateurs...go to your nearest golf shop with a launch monitor and have them analyze your swing, then talk to the person doing it and discuss what you want, they will be able to help you with a choice based on your swing characteristics and data...good luck
