I am British via descent through my dad. I have the British passport. But I would like to register myself as British (get a citizenship certificate or a birth registration or something like that) so that if I loose the passport or need other stuff prooving that I'm British I don't have to ask my parents again (cause you need heaps of stuff like their passports, birth certificates marriage certificate etc). I'm born in 79 in Canada.

  1. please go to this web page:

    http://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?page...

find which consulate will be closer to your residence,

the consulate will help you with a birth certificate, there might be a cost for the certificate,

usually there are no fees for registering yourself as an UK citizen living in Canada:

it is a service for UK citizens, and it sould be free,

    go to thehttp://www.fco.gov.uk/servlet/Front?page... home page:

  2. Contact the nearest British mission in Canada for any suggestions they may have for you.
