My family and I are looking for a decent place to live in Las Vegas, NV. My husband and I both work. He does forklift and I do security. We are looking for jobs that pay at least $11.00 and up an hour. We also want to know what are the worst areas to live in Las Vegas, NV. We have children ages 16, 13, 7, 1, and 2. My family and I would really appreciate any and all information. Thank You

  1. Anywhere but near the Strip area I'll tell you that.

  2. ignore all of the rude peoples trying to scare u about living in Las Vegas its just about the area u live in the better places to live are Henderson, and North Las Vegas they are the better places try getting into buissness or working for the city or big construction companies and try having your 16 yr old work also to make some extra money for your family bcuz  u have alot of kids....GOOD LUCK! :D

  3. I live in Nevada, and I can tell you Las vegas is one of the hottest places. Its also the meth capital (not to scare you or anything)

I recommend moving Up north in Nevada, but that's just me.

  4. OMG, you have how many kids? Five?!?! Wow, that is really obnoxious in this day and age .. and given your low HHI (household income .. $20 an hour???). What, you need all these mini-mes running around to feel important? And who is watching the kids while you and Fred are working?

Curious that you put your 2yr old at the end of the otherwise sequential (look it up) list (you go 7 to 1 and then backtrack from 1 to 2) ... did you forget the 2yr old for a second?

Why didn't you and/or your husband think about maybe going to college (I'm going out on a limb and assuming you are both uneducated), getting a nice career (or 2) going BEFORE plopping out all of these future (and probably current) taxpayer drains?

If you did that you could have some freedom and flexibility to live wherever you wanted!

PEOPLE: If you can't afford children, please don't have them until you can!

    Geeze!

They should teach this stuff in High School. No wonder this country is going down the tubes.

  5. Well there is not much of an middle of the Road.. You have nice ... then Ghetto..!! With only making 11 dollars per hour.. the truth of the matter is you will not be living Nice..!! My rent for a 3 bedroom apt. back in 2000 ish At Noble Park was 1,175 per month..Yes it was really nice.. ! Then we moved further out toward Red Rock and live for a little less in a two bed.. @ a place called the Palms..!!  Homes are expensive.. but if that is what you want I would go out toward Spring Valley.. .. Summerlin is great but you will not find an affordable home there trust me!! .. Do your hunting.. but Like I say Your gonna need to make like 70,000 per year to support 5 kids and two adults.. and you would still be on the poor side!! Trust me I made 12.. per hour.. .. that's' why I'm back in OHIO!!  I did make it 4 years... oh yeah car insurance is a KILLER too!!  Good luck .. AND STAY Clear of NORTHTOWN   `` And Please teach me how one person making 11 dollars per hour supports  a family your size anywhere in the US..!!? 11* 40= 440 -tax =330 take home ,, that is what I made in LV at 20 years old and single ,,, NO KIDS! ... I suggest you both to work!! Work you tale off to get into the Casinos!!

  6. Why would you move there, especially if you have children???

  7. Holy c**p... if you have 5 kids you will both need to make way more than at least $11 an hour!!

  8. I live in Vegas, as far as how "bad" it is here for children, I say B.S. I grew up in Iowa and had (what I would imagine) the same opportunity for drugs, violence, etc. It's not where you live but how you raise your children! That being said I would be a liar if I said all of Vegas is the same. I would look into Henderson, the Southwest, Summerlin, the Lakes and Centennial. Best of luck

  9. Near the strip is bad, some of NLV is bad, downtown Henderson is bad, and so is the area near downtown & UNLV.  Of course there are other areas that are not that great, but those are the major ones to avoid.

Right now the housing market is in the tank & if you are looking to buy, you might get a great deal if you can qualify.

There are websites that you can see how many crimes have been commited in different areas/zip codes.  Check those out.   Nice places are Silverado Ranch, Green Valley, Mountains Edge, Summerlin, etc.

  10. i lived in southern utah  about hour and ahalf from vegas     i wouldnt move my family there!! if anything atleast move to mormonville aka utah  vegas is just sooo bad i neve seen a descent side in vegas  maybe try mesquite nevada?

  11. Check out the jobs and possible places to live here:

    http://lasvegas.craigslist.org/

  12. not being rude or offensive here:

for the sake of the children, think about moving somewhere more nice? gambling, s*x, drugs, everything bad is in vegas.

I'm concerned for the 13 and 16 year old as they might get into bad "things there" and I'm concerned for the rest of the Young's because they will be in the hands of carers which I'm not too fond off..

can u looks at somewhere where there are more old people? has a reputation for being a good place?

take care and please make the right choice!
