  1. Usually you cannot legally work in Costa Rica unless you are a resident.

You might want to consider getting an internet based job, because U.S. dollars are worth more in Costa Rica. So, you will get paid less U.S. dollars if you get a job in Costa Rica, but more U.S. dollars if you just do a U.S. job from the internet.

  2. try teaching english.  If you go into Teach english overseas you can specify which country you want to work in.

  3. Before you worry about finding a job, check into what sort of visa you need. A regular tourist visa or entry usually prohibits you from working in most countries. You will probably need a special visa and possibly other paperwork.

As far as employment, I would start with the Costa Rican government. They may have some resources to help you locate employment, especially if you are fluent in multiple languages.

  4. You need a permission to legally work in Costa Rica. Tourist visa is only 3 month. Oficial offices and firms in San Jose would not let you work without a visa (hard to get, need a lawyer and money). I know there are a lot of people working on the beach in restaurants, and bars, they might not have a visa. On beaches just ask around... For something serious take a lawyer.
