Looking to upgrade my sound system. What should I get?

So I own a '95 Honda Accord and the factory speakers are now sounding distorted at even low sound levels. I figure it's time to upgrade the speakers and head unit, which only has Cassette. lol.

I really don't know what to buy though. I know nothing of car audio, but I've been looking at these;

Do these look good? I figure I'll eventually throw in subs and an amp, but do I need an amp now? Do I need anything else? And lastly, am I gonna need someone to professionally put the speakers in? How much does that usually cost?

  1. Yes, that all seems good for right now, but no you don't need em professionally installed, just re wire the how they exactly were with the old ones, with the upgraded one, and if you buy from crutchfield, they will throw in some tools I think, and if you want you can find those alot cheaper on other sites.

    Its just a starting system, and yes that all looks suitable.

    Hope I helped.

  2. Yea that brand of speakers are good. The deck is okay but i would get a pioneer. You can get one for around the same price as that kenwood if you are on a budget. Its way better to have an amp to power the speakers but you dont need one since head units have an so called built in amp to power them. But like you said when you get woofers you should. You should be able to instal the speakers so problem. Pos. to Pos. and Neg. to Neg. Simple as that.

  3. Just do not buy these from Crutchfield, you can find this equipment cheapier elsewhere.
