looking for suggestions on how to plan a trip to focus on Barcelona and Spanish beach cities along with visiting Morocco for a couple days. Will flying in and out of the same city get us the cheapest flight or can we fly into Spain and out of Morocco inexpensively?

  1. Work your way down the coast from Barcelona (spend at least four nights in the city though... it's fantastic and there's lots to see and do).  Cross over to Morocco by boat somewhere near Gibraltar or Cadiz, and then explore Morocco.  Don't go with organized tours because they will herd you around like sheep into shops run by their family members!

  2. Hiya, I live in Spain and can therefore offer a little bit of advice.  Certainly spend at least 4 days in Barcelona...it is the most amazing city and the best way to see it, due to its immense size, is to take one of the City Bus Tours where you are driven around all of the attractions but can hop on and off the buses when and if you like.  This is excellent value and allows you to plan your visits.  In addition, you should just walk as much as you can, you will be amazed at some of the sights you will see.  Barcelona has a certain "buzz" about it that you are unlikely to find elsewhere.

You can fly into Barcelona and then fly or travel by train or coach down to the Costa Del Sol (southern Spain).  The airport being Malaga.  From Malaga you will have access to some of Spain's finest beaches and beach resorts.  Busy and bustling resorts such as Torremolinos, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Marbella and Estepona are all along the coast, as is Gibraltar, from where I believe you can catch the catamarran to Morocco (about a 1 hour trip, I think).  The coast is a lot smaller than you would think here on the Costa Del Sol but the beaches are beautiful and the weather is fantastic.  You are also ideally placed for visiting cities like Seville (not to be missed) and Madrid.  These are easily accessed by train and local coach services...a much more cost effective way of travelling than organised coach tours and much more fun.

However, please don't miss the opportunity to travel a little bit inland if you are on the Costa Del Sol and visit some of the true Andalucian White Villages to meet some of the real Spanish people.  They are among the friendliest people in the world with a wonderful sense of humour.  Language is no barrier as they are so good at laughing at attempts to communicate.

One other piece of advice....the pace of life here is very different, much slower, do not expect to be served quickly with anything....it all just takes time....when you accept that and relax with it all, you very quickly get into that way of thinking....don't try to rush a Spaniard, that is the worst thing you can do.

Have a great trip and hope the above was of some help:)
