Question:

Loop Jump and Waltz Loop?

by  |  earlier

Everytime I try to do a waltz loop and a loop jump I drop my other foot 3/4 through the spin. I've practiced my backspin a ton so I can get the feeling of my foot being crossed but it doesnt work! Any tips on how to keep my foot up? Thanks.=]

  1. If I'm reading this correctly, I think you're saying that your freefoot comes down when you do the loop - even in combination??

If you're doing singles, you don't have to worry about having a tight, crossed back spin position in the air just yet.

However, that freeleg has to be in front.  Bending the free knee and keeping it up makes it look nicer, helps you to "rise" in your jump, plus you have less of a chance 2 footing your landing (or putting that free foot down too soon).  So think "free knee up" as you jump!

If you're doing the back spin exercise, then you should come out of the spin by putting the knee up and exiting - make it a strong check out.

    Hope that helps!

  2. When I jump I always remember to stay in the H position, (back leg straight, front leg bent, then to D----legs crossed.)when you start a loop your legs should be in the H position and when you land a jump your legs should be in the H Position. If you are letting your foot out too early think of your loop, as a double, you have to keep your foot in or else you will fall right? then when it is time to check out make that H position and pull out. Or trying getting more into your edge, bend your legs some more. or just think of not letting your crossed leg out----usually helps me

  3. Think about squeezing your bum cheeks together =)

That's what I do when I cheat my jump. I think that you are just overthinking it!
