how do you take off from a loop? when i see pros do it it looks like they have their left foot on its outside edge and right foot on its outside edge (im right handed) but when ive tried it my edge gets caught when i start to jump and stumble and almost fall before i even leave the ice (by then i prolly wont leave the ice during that jump at all) or do you have your blades in a more of flat state where they aren't on an edge?

  1. i have both edges on the outside. The reason why i dont trip is because i have literally no weight on my left skate, its a jump from the right skate.

getting it on the outside to alot of practice but def. helps

  2. It sounds like you're skating CW (if not, just reverse the feet here).  You need to be on your left back outside edge.  You can hold your right leg in front, not touching the ice, or (to get more stability) you can have your right foot on the ice on a slight back inside edge/or a flat.  But all of your weight should be on your left foot, and that foot has to be on an outside edge.

Some people cross their feet before they take off (which sounds like what you're describing if both feet are on outside edges), but that's difficult to learn and can really throw you off if you're just learning the jump.

If you're having trouble with the take-off, try keeping your right foot up off the ice (not too high) and in front of your left foot.  Or try doing it from a left inside three turn instead of a long edge.

  3. you're on a right inside edge. its easier for me to go into it from a right inside three turn b/c from that entrance its an easier weight shift than with backwards crossovers. try it you might like it ask triple bunny hop she knows everything she's yahoo answer jesus she's freaking amazing her tips helped me land my loop 0_0 incredible right?! and make sure you really bend that right knee and pull your arms in

  4. First off, its left INSIDE edge, right OUTSIDE edge. And it sounds like you have your feet are really close together. Pull your feet farther apart (not too far) and jump. Also it really is more of no edge on singles. On doubles, whole nother story!

    Happy Skating!

  5. The loop jump is done from your right back outside edge, jumping unto the air and rotating one full revolution before landing on the same edge as the takeoff which was your right back outside edge.

  6. if u jump off ur right foot, ur right foot is on an outside edge, try jumping upward instead of far. jump up.
