Some of my teeth (all adult) are moderately loose, not that much but I can wiggle them back and forth abit. Mainly my front teeth, is this normal?

  1. its not normal. Get checked up by your dentist to see if you have any periodontal problems.

  2. A TINY bit of movement is normal, but if you can actually wiggle them, it sounds like you might have bone loss around the roots.  Usually the lower front teeth are the first to show this.  You should have an x-ray taken to find out what is going on.  (Sometimes loose teeth can be caused by other things that are more serious, but these things are pretty rare so I won't mention them other than to warn you that you should go for a check-up with your dentist!)

Bone loss is most often indicative of periodontitis, which is caused by local factors such as plaque buildup, inflammation and infection.  It is usually painless.  Unfortunately, even if you improve your oral hygiene and undergo treatment from a dentist or periodontist, you will not regain this bone (unless you get grafts.)  It is VERY important that you see a dentist to make sure that you don't lose any more bone, or else all of your teeth will be lost and you will need a complete denture.  With treatment, however, the progression of periodontitis is very easy to stop so that the problem will not get any worse.
