Loose teeth on 4 year old due to fall. Still not tightening up. Why?

My four year old has had three incidents over the past several months where he has fallen or crashed into something. In Janurary, he was running and tripped, fell into a chair...loose teeth, but all the forums suggested they would tighten up, which they did. Then a few months ago, he ran into the corner of the hallway wall in the middle of the night when he was walking to the bathroom...loose 2 front teeth again...I have been waiting for them to tighten up, they did a bit, but still a bit wiggly...then last night, he was roughhousing with brothers on the couch and took a faceplant off the back and onto the floor...loose teeth again. Basically, the same teeth have been traumatized over and over again...They are not SUPER WOBBLY, nor sideways, grey or anything else...they are wiggly in the sense that they are not firm...and they do not hurt him. While I was not worried too much before, maybe thinking now that I should have some concerns after 3 months of wiggly, and the fact that this time they are not tightening up right away....What do you think?

  1. The teeth are most likely dead but are still in place they will turn brownish and fall out

  2. He could have fractured the roots of the teeth. Several traumatic injuries over a short time can do that. Take him to a pediatric dentist. They will be the best ones to handle this case, all they see are kids!Good luck.

  3. My guess is - he's 4! It's about time for his body to stop stressing to keep them in, since his adult teeth are getting close. Good thing is kids at this age look normal and "cute" with missing teeth. It probably won't traumatize him too much! :-) Don't fret - your grandma wouldn't have.
