Loot bags for really young kids?

I am hosting my son's first birthday party and I would like to hand out lootbags for the few kids that will be attending.

3 are around 1 year old and 1 child is 2.5 years old.

Can you give me ideas as to what I can put in these loot bags?

  1. Since they are so young, I would not recommend small foods to eat for the 1 year olds.  Sorry, this does include raisins and mini marshmellows as they can get stuck in their throats.  My suggestion for the 1 year olds would be the little take along boxes of cheerios, gerber puffs, fruit bars... stuff that is larger and easier for them to eat.  Animal cracker boxes are good too.  Get a small stuffed animal that is a favorite character, Target has pooh and elmo characters for under $5 I believe.

For the 2.5 year old you have more flexibility.  You can do gummi bears for food.  I'd stay away from candy type things.  For the toy, you can again be more flexible as they are older and you don't have to worry about things going into their mouths as much.  Target has a dollar bin area that has some great little kids prizes.  Stickers are always a big hit.

    Have fun at the party!

  2. For my daughter's first birthday, I put large rubber bouncy balls, color book with crayons (my daughter started coloring at 9 mos), bubbles, big stickers, noise makers.  You can also put in cereal bars (I use earth best products), cheerio cups, little goldfish packs, etc., stuff that would be easy for a 1 year old to snack on.

  3. Raisin boxes, Gerber makes these toddler fruit snacks that are very low sugar, some little toys from party city that aren't too small and don't have small parts, Biter cookies maybe, Mini marshmallows. Hope these help!
