Lord Crewe to catch success at Bangor-on-dee – Handicap Hurdle Preview
The legendary trainer Philip Hobbs’ black gelding has turned to be the hot favourite for today’s Weatherbys Bank Handicap Hurdle which is set to be held at Bangor-on-dee racecourse.
The Class 3 contest of 3m distance will commence at 4:25 (GMT). The total prize money for the event is £4,549.
Lord Crewe will compete against 16 horses including Extreme Impact, Heathcliff, Riptide, Camden, Dawn Commander, Requin, Cloudy Too, Dais Return, Golden Call, Danderry , Balerina, Fentara, Abnaki, Federstar, Ebony River and Mauricetheathlete.
As the competition contains some big names, Lord Crewe will have to unleash immense fighting spirit in order to win.
Here we present a career portrait of the gelding in order to justify his favourite position.
Lord Crewe
The 9-year-old runner started his career in August 2007. His maiden victory came in October 2007. He won the second race of his career in January 2010. The talented gelding went on to bag another triumph in March 2010.
Lord Crewe’s last victory came in November 2011. He finished second in his last outing on January 19, 2012. As a whole, The Country Side-owned gelding has won 4 out of his total 15 races so far.
He is likely to show a big run again today at Bangor-on-dee and walk away with a fabulous success. His chances to win are as high as 90 percent.
Along with Lord Crewe, two other runners including Abnaki and Balerina are expected to finish second and third in the race respectively. Below are their career charts.
Abnaki
Starting his career with an amazing victory in January 2011, Jonjo O’Neill’s black gelding went on to win the second race of his career in May 2011.
The seven year old last won on December 12. Overall, he has earned three triumphs during just one year of his career. His total earning is £5,797.
The Masterson Holdings Limited-owned gelding is expected to run confidently today and finish at least second in the race.
Balerina
After winning two races during February-March 2011, Alan King’s black mare achieved a mega victory in her last outing on January 27, 2012. Overall, she has won 5 out of her total 20 races so far.
Capitalising on her fresh form, the talented mare is expected to run well today and grab third top spot in the contest.
Conclusion
Along with this trio, a few of the other runners also possess enough talent. Thus, Handicap Hurdle is going to be an awe-inspiring clash. Lord Crewe will have to fight hard to make a breakthrough. Good luck to all the horses.
