  1. The island is neither welcoming nor hostile but neutral, it just "is". The reaction of the boys, whether they adapt to their new environment or cling to old but now useless norms will dictate how they fare.  


  2. i havent read this book in a while but ending up on ANY unnihabited island would be unwelcoming. even if it didnt look so at first glance. i mean they did last a good while before things started happening.....

    by the way, you should be doing your homework by yourself......
