Lorena Ochoa Invitational to feature big names
The Mizuno Classic 2012 is over now—but such was the hype and passion on display that it seemed like every LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) star was playing to win or at least record
a huge finish there.
Now, with another prestigious event, Lorena Ochoa Invitational 2012 slated to be played from November 8-11, at Guadalajara, Mexico, key players are hoping to make a major breakthrough.
The media coverage and hype that have made the Lorena Ochoa Invitational the premier competition on the LPGA Tour, will be amply showcased, reflecting women’s golf has what it takes to attract
a massive audience.
Key contenders who are confirmed to take part at the upcoming battle include defending champion Catriona Matthew, South Korean I.K. Kim who won the 2010 edition of the tournament and current
world number one Yani Tseng.
Despite the strong field, main attraction will be American Stacy Lewis who won the Mizuno Classic 2012. Lewis is expected to continue her solid form in Mexico as well.
Since every LPGA tournament matters to contenders, the coming tournaments in the current season are important as they can help players shape up their profiles before they head into the 2013
season.
Given the latest stats, Lewis has made certain that she is going to be the star performer as she has already racked up four LPGA titles so far, and is determined to further cement her position.
On the other hand, the results have also shown that which players are going to end up as no-hoper and which are the most accomplished of all.
In Mexico, players like Paula Creamer and Catriona Matthew will be under scrutiny. Matthew, being a veteran and the defending champion, is likely to repeat her last year’s performance, but
she will have to face a tougher competition this time.
Yani Tseng, who is trying to regain her winning form, has also given some hope to her fans, after finishing strong in the last three tournaments.
She finished third at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship and fourth at the Mizuno Classic 2012. Although it was not a case of job-done for the top-ranked prodigy, the upcoming tournament
is likely to see her in an even better form.
