The Neapolitan youngster has impressed everyone with his ability despite his short stature, and people are talking of a great future for the U-21 Italy international. The Italian was phenomenal in pre season as he tore through the defences of many big clubs
which included the likes of Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich; and was instrumental in their pre-season victories.
The starlet has is part of the Italian national team for the first time, after performances for his club brought the attention of the head coach of the Azzurri senior team. Cesare Prandelli has always preferred to deploy youngsters in his squad, as was evident
by the team that battled it out in the European Championships of 2012.
When quizzed about the comparisons that have been made including him and several accomplished players of Italy, Insigne went on to deny any such rumours. He went on to state that there was still a lot that he needed to do and there was a lot of practice
that he needed to do before he reached the level of such great players.
The player was talking in the press conference at the Nazionale’s training base, and he went on to state:
“I’m not like Antonio. He is a champion, while I am a young player who has it all to prove.”
The Neapolitan player went on to state that he had seen all the videos of the player, and he was truly inspired by the manner in which the legendary Juventus player had conducted his career through the course of time. He further went on to discuss that he
would work as hard as possible to make his mark and was humbled by all such comparisons.
He was quoted to have said:
“He’s a really strong player, but I don’t aspire to be like him. I look up to [Juventus idol] Del Piero. As a kid I watched all of his goals and I’d love to ‘steal’ his curling shots.”
